MICROSOFT IS KILLING OFF WINDOWS 7
Microsoft is officially ending support for the Windows 7 operating system in January 2020. If you are still on Windows 7, your computer will no longer receive any security updates. Click here for more info and what you can do to stay protected.
FAKE TECH SUPPORT SCAMS
We hear about these scams quite frequently. If you get a cold call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, Apple, Dell, or any other tech company, simply hang up. If you receive a browser pop-up from one of these companies warning you about your computer's security and for you to call a number, just close your browser and/or call us instead. And never, ever, EVER let someone remote on to your computer unless you know who you're working with. Check out this great article by the FTC for more info on how to avoid being scammed.
WHAT IS "PHISHING"?
You may not be aware of the term, but you've probably experienced "phishing" attempts while online. Phishing is a term used when a scammer tries to trick you into giving out your personal data by pretending to be a person or company that you trust. This quick quiz from Google will test you to see if you can spot the differences between a legitimate email and a phishing attempt.
